The Skil 4570 Jigsaw is an innovative new power tool recently on the market which construction workers and hobbyists alike will find extremely useful.

The machine is cordless and features the manufacturers' PowerPlus System. This allows the unit to be powered either by 18-Volt nickel-cadmium batteries or 18-Volt lithium rechargable batteries. The lithium batteries are environmentally friendly, and are longer lasting than nickel-cadium batteries. The lithium batteries also provide longer-lasting power to the tool which will help prevent unnecessary work stoppages.

Weighing in at just under three pounds, the Skil 4570 Jigsaw is also built to last with a full metal gear train that transfers 400in/lbs worth of torque to manage the four variable speeds which this machine offers. The orbital cutting action can move through wood, metal, or plastic with equal ease. An easy-to-find speed dial on the side of the tool allows the user to set the jigsaw to Fast (for plywood or soft wood), Medium (for plastic or hard wood), Low (for metals) or Smooth (for all materials mentioned here) depending on the job. The unit's stroke length is 5/8 of an inch.

The jigsaw can be postioned at 0, 15, 30, or at a 45 degree angle for various types of tasks. It also includes a sidearm to offer the user more control and flexibility over the machine. Changing blades is quick and easy since no key is required. The tool even features a storage area that keeps blades handy when needed.

The machine also features a built-in pivoting worklight for better visibility and accuracy. It also includes a built-in battery indicator to warn the user when either a recharge or battery replacement is needed.

When sold new, the Skil 4570 Jigsaw comes with one blade and an one-year manufacturers warranty. In addition, it should be noted that the tool is often sold separately from its initial batteries, charger, and carrying case.
